Sprigs and Small Birds on a Cream Floral Silk Square Scarf

Most of this square is left open: a soft cream ground clouded with faint beige and pale gray, like mist. Slender sprigs with gray-lavender leaves and pale yellow blossoms reach in from the corners, and a few small birds and bees flutter across the middle. A gray band frames the design, and the corner folded back on itself shows the sprigs again in lighter tones on the reverse.

Small Silk Scarf Knots: Throat, Hair, Head

Folded into a band, it loops once around the throat and knots at the front, both gray-edged tails falling over a sweater. The same band can circle a bun or a ponytail, knotted at the center. For the head, drape it over the hair with the two corners knotted behind, the ends hanging down. Our white silk scarves include more pale designs.

Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
