Questions about our silk scarves

Six things worth knowing before you order. The rest is in the help center.

Help center
What is this scarf made of?

It depends on the scarf, and the page says so: each product page names the fiber and gives the exact size for that one. A blend is named as a blend. Read the fiber line, not the adjective. How to read a silk label.

Which size should I pick?

Start with the 21 in (53 cm) bandana: it makes a headband, a kerchief, a knot at the neck and a bow on a bag handle, and it is our most common size. The 27.5 in (70 cm) adds a wrap for the night, the 35.5 in (90 cm) covers the whole head, the 51 in (130 cm) shawl is for the shoulders, and the skinny scarf is the narrow band for a bag handle or a ponytail. Between two sizes take the larger one — a knot takes up 1 to 2 in (2.5 to 5 cm). Every size drawn to scale.

When will it arrive, and what does shipping cost?

We pack in 1 to 3 business days. US delivery then takes 1 to 18 business days depending on the address. Standard shipping is $5.95 across the continental US and $9.95 to Alaska and Hawaii, and it is free from $50 — Alaska and Hawaii included. Priority Shipping ($9.90, or $13.90 to Alaska and Hawaii) is prepared ahead of standard orders, with the same transit time. A tracking number follows the parcel. Shipping & Delivery.

Will I owe anything on delivery?

Our scarves are imported. Import duties and the carrier's handling fee are not included in the total you see: a parcel entering the United States can be charged on entry, and when it is, the carrier invoices the person receiving it. What we charge you is fixed at checkout and does not change afterwards. Shipping & Delivery.

How do I wash it?

Cold hand wash, with a detergent made for silk or wool — never an enzyme detergent, because enzymes break down protein and silk is a protein fiber. Press the water out in a towel, dry flat away from the sun, then iron on the reverse while still slightly damp, at the lowest setting. The full method.

What if it does not work out?

You have 14 days from delivery to ask for a return, then 14 more days to send the scarf back once we have sent you the instructions. It has to come back unused and in the state you received it. Return postage is yours unless the item arrived faulty — in that case we pay it — and there is no restocking fee. Once the parcel reaches our Paris address and has been checked, the refund goes back to the original payment method within 3 to 7 business days. We refund rather than exchange, which is usually faster: order the one you want now and send the first back. Returns & Refunds.

Silk scarves for women

Printed and solid silk scarves in six sizes, from the skinny scarf, 2 in (5 cm) wide, to the 51 in (130 cm) shawl. Read on for which size to wear in your hair, at the neck or as a head wrap, and how to care for silk.

Silk hair scarves and head scarves

For your hair, the smaller sizes do the work. A skinny scarf ties around a ponytail or a bun like a ribbon, and a 21 in (53 cm) bandana folds into a headband or a kerchief knotted at the nape. Shop them in our silk hair scarves collection.

To cover the whole head, start at the 35.5 in (90 cm) square: it is the smallest size for a full silk scarf head wrap. As a silk hair wrap for the night, a 27.5 in (70 cm) square suits hair to the shoulders; long or thick hair needs 35.5 in (90 cm) or larger. Browse the silk head scarves, then see the silk scarf head wrap guide and our guide to sleeping in a silk scarf.

Silk neck scarves and bandanas

At the neck, the 21 in (53 cm) silk bandana is the classic: folded into a band and knotted to one side, it becomes a silk neckerchief. A 27.5 in (70 cm) or 35.5 in (90 cm) square leaves longer ends to hang in front, and a skinny scarf makes the thinnest knot of all.

The bandana is also our most common size, and the one to start with if you are unsure. Browse the scarves that tie at the neck in our silk neck scarves collection.

Silk square scarves, skinny scarves and shawls

Most of our scarves are square, in five sizes: the 21 in (53 cm) bandana, the 25.5 to 27.5 in (65 to 70 cm) small square, the 35.5 in (90 cm) square, the 43.5 in (110 cm) large square and the 51 in (130 cm) shawl. All of them are in the silk square scarves, and the two largest are grouped under large silk scarves and shawls, for the shoulders or a knotted top.

The skinny silk scarves are the exception: a band 2 in (5 cm) wide, for a bag handle, a ponytail or a thin knot at the neck. Between two sizes, take the larger one, because a knot takes up 1 to 2 in (2.5 to 5 cm). The size guide draws every size to scale.

Silk scarves by color

Each main color has its own page: red silk scarves, black silk scarves, white silk scarves, blue silk scarves, green silk scarves, pink silk scarves and orange silk scarves.

Most of our scarves are printed, with floral, equestrian and animal print silk scarves among them; a few are solid colors. Each product page names the fiber, and a blend is named as a blend.

Tying and caring for a silk scarf

Roll a square into a band before you tie it: a flat square slips, a rolled one grips itself. The tying guide shows eight knots, from the neck knot to the bandana fold.

Keep high heat, enzymes and direct sun away from silk. Wash it in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool, don't wring it, dry it flat and iron it on the reverse at the lowest setting. Washing, stains and storage.
