The Solid Lilac Silk Bandana in Dusty Mauve

The shade is a muted lilac with a lot of pink in it, closer to dusty mauve than to lavender, and never sugary. It covers the whole square in one flat tone, without print or border, finished by a narrow stitched hem in the same color. The silk catches the light along each fold, and where a corner flips over, the reverse turns pale, almost powder lilac.

Lilac Silk Scarf Ideas for the Neck, Hair and Head

Opened into a triangle, it drapes over the hair and fastens at the nape. Knotted at one side of the neck, it adds a soft block of color to a white or cream top. Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
