A Burgundy Paisley Silk Bandana in Deep Navy and Wine

Dozens of paisley teardrops fill the center of this square, drawn in rust, burgundy and tan with fine cream outlines. Behind them the ground is clouded, deep navy in places and burgundy in others, so the square reads dark wine from a distance. A burgundy border frames the design, traced with thin mustard and brick-red stripes and small star motifs. The reverse is much paler, and the print shows through it faintly.

How to Tie a Silk Bandana for Hair or Neck

Folded into a band, it wraps around the head and knots high on one side, its two pointed ends left loose, a neat frame for a low bun. Opened into a triangle, it covers the hair and knots at the nape, kerchief style. Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
