Silk Scarfs

Cherry, raspberry, vermilion and burgundy

Red from a plain cherry bandana to burgundy paisley, red lanterns and tulip bouquets on 51 in (130 cm) shawls.

Twelve ways to wear it

The red silk scarf, from cherry to burgundy

A red silk scarf can be bright or deep, and the reds here run from cherry and vermilion to raspberry and burgundy. On some scarves red is the ground; on many others it is the accent that catches the eye.

Red as the main color

For a red silk bandana in a single color, the solid one is cherry red from edge to edge. Round Blooms sets round flowers in raspberry and cream inside a tan border. Lantern Menagerie comes in vermilion, a red with orange in it, with animal lanterns in cream and yellow on a 35.5 in (90 cm) square. Leaf Drift takes red toward rust, with drifting leaves on taupe. The solid cherry square sits with the other plain colors among our silk bandanas.

Burgundy, the deeper red

A burgundy silk scarf sits more quietly with dark autumn clothes. Merlot is a bandana of burgundy paisley with navy and a striped border. Riding Panels, a 43.5 in (110 cm) large square, sets horses and plumes in striped panels on sage, with burgundy and slate blue. Both go well with brown, olive and camel, where a brighter red would stand out more. Warmer reds that lean to rust and coral are on the orange silk scarves page.

Red as an accent

Red also turns up inside other prints. Rearing Bloom draws a floral horse in red on cream, framed in black; Spring Bouquet places red among tulip bouquets, on cream or on navy; Stitch Garden mixes it with orange and yellow in patchwork hearts and daisies; Jelly Drift scatters it with blue across a black shawl. On the skinny scarves, red often sits next to coral, pink or orange. Red set against black is on the black silk scarves page.

Red from skinny scarf to shawl

Red runs through the whole size range: skinny scarves of 2 × 33.5 to 35.5 in (5 × 85 to 90 cm) for a ponytail or a bow at the neck, 21 in (53 cm) bandanas, small squares of 25.5 to 27.5 in (65 to 70 cm), the 35.5 in (90 cm) lantern square, the 43.5 in (110 cm) large square and 51 in (130 cm) shawls to wear open over the shoulders. Questions about wearing a red silk scarf

Cherry red or burgundy: which goes with dark clothes?

Both, in different ways. Burgundy blends into navy, charcoal and brown and adds color without contrast. Cherry red stands out against black or navy and becomes the focus of the outfit. For a coat you wear every day, burgundy is the quieter choice.

Which red scarves pair red with navy?

Several prints put the two side by side: Merlot, burgundy paisley with navy; Spring Bouquet on a navy ground, with red among the tulips; Scribble Hearts, a red heart with navy on cream; and Giraffe Garden, a skinny scarf in orange, red and navy.

Can I wear a red scarf with pink?

Yes, and some prints already do it: the coral Tile Garden and Terrier Jungle skinny scarves and the pink Canal Facades mix red with coral, blush and pink. With a pink top, a cherry red bandana keeps the two colors distinct. Pink and coral silk scarves.

Which red scarf can I wear as a shawl?

The 51 in (130 cm) shawls: Jelly Drift on black, Stitch Garden in orange, red and yellow, and Spring Bouquet on cream or on navy. Riding Panels, at 43.5 in (110 cm), also reaches the shoulders when folded into a triangle.

How do I wear a red scarf in a subtle way?

Choose a print where red is an accent rather than the ground, such as Rearing Bloom or Scribble Hearts on cream, or keep it narrow: a skinny scarf tied at the collar shows only a line of red. Burgundy is quieter than cherry from the start.
