A Navy Floral Silk Bandana in Soft, Painted Blooms

Loose, brushy watercolor flowers open across this square, their cream petals shaded with sand beige and a little gray. Behind them the ground never settles on one blue: deep navy pools between the blooms toward the edges, then fades through slate into smoky pale gray at the center, as if the colors had been washed together while still wet. A plain navy band runs along the edge. Where one corner is folded over, the reverse shows the blooms again, softer.

A Navy Silk Scarf for the Neck, Hair and Head

Knotted beside the throat, it lets a navy-edged point settle on the upper chest. As a headband, fold it into a strip, bring it over the head and knot it above one ear, hair smoothed into a low bun. As a kerchief, the triangle hides the back of the head, its border dipping into a V before the ends are tied on the hair at the nape. More navy and blue prints are in our blue silk scarves.

Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
