Lanterns on Vermilion: The Red Lantern Print Silk Square Scarf

A warm red-orange ground sets off this crowd of paper lanterns, each one hung from a thin white line. A black and white zebra head fills a yellow globe, two hornbills share a round green lantern, tropical fish swim around a pale blue pleated one, a monkey walks across a blue-striped box and a giraffe stands in a tall yellow lantern. Others carry starbursts, checks and fans in yellow, teal, cobalt and black. A cream band frames the square, and the turned-back corner shows a soft pink reverse.

Silk Square Scarf Knots in Red

As a band tied in front at the collarbone, it shows a different lantern on each tail. Around a shirtdress, the band makes a bright belt with its cream edges at the ends. Over the hair, it wraps the entire head and ties at the nape, the zebra and a green checkered lantern landing on the back. Our red silk scarves gather other bright reds.

Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
