A Cream Floral Horse Print Silk Square Scarf, Petal by Petal

Look closer and the horse on this square has no outline of its own: it is built from blooms. Red and coral flowers, blue sprigs, mustard clusters and green leaves pack together into a horse rearing on its hind legs across a cream ground. Loose petals and small buds drift away from it toward the corners, and a solid black band frames the whole design. On the turned-back corner, the reverse repeats the flowers in softer tones.

Throat, Bag or Crown: Tying This Floral Silk Scarf

Folded into a long band, it knots once at the front of the throat and the black-edged tails fall over a sweater. Wound around a bag handle, the same band finishes in a bow at the hinge. For the head, spread it over the hair, fasten the corners low behind the neck and let the ends drape down the back. Our silk square scarf collection has more squares of this size.

Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
