Cream Scrolls Frame This Black Lily of the Valley Silk Square Scarf

On an ink-black ground, thin tan lines draw a grid of circles and pointed arches. Every circle frames a lily of the valley stem, its fresh green leaves and chain of white bells standing out sharply against the dark. Between the rows run bands of tan scrollwork. The cream border carries black curling scrolls and ends in a black stitched edge that looks like a tiny picot. On the reverse, seen at the folded corner, the black turns to a light gray.

Black and Cream Silk Scarf: Throat Knot and Head Scarf

Tied at the base of the throat, it keeps the black center close to the neck and sends the cream border down both tails. As a head scarf, it wraps the hair and ties behind, a cream line along the face. Threaded through a bag strap, it shows off the white bells. More dark prints are in our black silk scarves.

Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
