Hidden Roses on a Green Leopard Border Silk Square Scarf

From a step away the center looks like plain deep green silk; up close, it is covered in roses and leafy scrolls printed a shade darker than the ground, like a damask. The green shifts from bright emerald in the middle to almost black near the edges. A thin mustard stripe separates it from the border, a band of sand-colored leopard spots with a black edge. The reverse, seen at the corner, is pale.

Emerald Green Silk Scarf Knots: Neck, Head and Bag

Tied with a single knot low on the neck, it lets the leopard border run down both hanging ends. Over the head, the green covers the hair while the spotted band sits around the face, and the knot goes low at the nape. On a handbag, loop it once around the strap so a spotted corner hangs free. Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
