A Blue Floral Silk Square Scarf With One Giant Peony

A single peony fills most of the square, its ruffled petals layered in cornflower, sky blue and periwinkle, each one traced with fine darker lines. At the heart the petals turn silver gray and white, and a few lilac and pink petals slip in near the corners. The ivory ground appears just toward the edges, inside a narrow periwinkle border. On the rolled corner, the reverse shows the petals again in paler lines.

Peony Silk Scarf Ideas: Throat, Hair, Head

Make a band of it and tie a small knot where the collarbones meet, so both periwinkle-edged tails fall in front. Rolled tighter, the band also wraps a low ponytail and ties off in a small bow. Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
