Every card gives the size in inches, with centimeters alongside. When a print comes in more than one color, the small squares next to the price switch between them.

What the label means, which size does what, and how to keep a square looking new.
Reading the fiber line
Every product page lists the fiber in the Silk passport, next to the size in inches. When a scarf is a blend, it is named as a blend.
We describe what our photos and our supplier’s written details show, nothing more. How to read a silk label.
Which size does what
The 21 in bandana (53 cm), our most common size, is where to start: a headband, a kerchief knotted at the nape, a knot at the neck, a bow on a bag handle. The 27.5 in square (70 cm) adds a wrap for the night; from 35.5 in (90 cm) a scarf covers the whole head. At 51 in (130 cm) you are in shawl territory, worn open over the shoulders. Sizes are given in inches, the side of the square; the centimeters follow underneath for anyone who measures that way.

Reading a card in two seconds
The badge in the corner states the fiber. The price sits under the name, with the ways to wear the scarf beside it. On printed silk the design usually shows on the back, a shade lighter; the Reverse line of the Silk passport says what our photos show for that scarf.
Next to the sizes, the small squares are the same print in another colorway. Tap one and the whole card follows — image, name and price.
Caring for silk
Silk is a protein fiber, which is why it reacts to heat, enzymes and sunlight the way hair does. Cold hand wash with a detergent made for silk or wool, never an enzyme detergent. Press the water out in a towel, dry flat away from the sun, iron on the reverse while still slightly damp at the lowest setting. Washing, stains, storing.
Questions about silk scarves
Does the print show on the back?
On most printed silk, yes: the design shows on the back, a shade lighter. The Reverse line of the Silk passport on each product page tells you what our photos show for that scarf.
What is the difference between silk and satin?
Silk is a fiber, satin is a weave. A satin scarf can be silk, polyester or a blend, so the fiber line matters more than the word. Each product page here lists the fiber.
Will the scarf hold a knot?
Fold or roll the square into a band before you tie it: a flat square slips, a folded one holds much better. Eight knots that hold.
Can I see the same print in another color?
When a print exists in several colorways, the small squares next to the sizes show them. Tap one and the card switches to that colorway.
How do I choose between two sizes?
Take the larger one. A knot eats an inch or two (a few centimeters), and a square that is slightly too big can always be folded smaller. The sizes, drawn to scale.
What do the size names mean?
Four shapes, and the square comes in three. A skinny scarf is a ribbon, 2 to 5 in (5 to 12 cm) wide. A bandana, 18 to 23 in (45 to 58 cm), sits on the head. The squares run from 23 to 51 in (59 to 129 cm): small for the hair and the neck, the 31 to 41 in (80 to 104 cm) square for everything, large to fold over the shoulders. A shawl is 51 in (130 cm) and up, worn open. Every size, drawn to scale.
