A White and Teal Patchwork Floral Silk Shawl in Soft Pastels

On a clean white ground, a big patchwork form sweeps from one corner toward the middle, its sections edged with dashed stitch lines. Some patches are deep teal, others mint green or soft butter yellow, filled with daisies, green hearts, zigzag bands and little cross-stitch squares. Outside it, sprigs of rust-orange leaves, teal flowers and a large outlined daisy stand on their own. A periwinkle band edges the shawl, and a folded corner shows the pale reverse.

How to Wear the White and Teal Print Silk Shawl

Across the shoulders, the teal patches land at the front while the white ground stays around the neck in a soft cowl. For cooler evenings, pull it up over the hair: the periwinkle edge then outlines the face while the rest hangs loose. It also knots at the waist as a wrap skirt. Care instructions

Silk is a protein fiber. Treat it the way you treat hair.

  1. Hand wash, coldTwo minutes in cold water with a detergent made for silk or wool.
  2. Never a biological detergentIts enzymes break down protein, and silk is protein. No bleach either.
  3. Press, then dry flatRoll it in a towel to take the water out. Never wring it.
  4. Out of the sunDirect light fades dye. Dry it flat in the shade, not on a radiator.
  5. Iron damp, on the reverseLowest setting, no steam, and keep the iron off the hem.
  6. Store it loosely rolledRolled loosely in a drawer, away from light. A tight fold leaves a crease.

Dry cleaning works too: ask for silk, no solvent on the hem.
